no no no, it's not that hard for 90% of toyota you can use an impact gun (a good one). If you don't have access to one then we use a chain wrench it's a long bar with a chain on one end (snap -on or cornwell) . The chain goes around the crank pulley and holds it then you use a breaker bar with a pipe if need be. After you get it loose do the job then use some grease on the end of the snout of the crank where the pulley goes on. Do not grease the threads, do not use anti-sieze on the threads. You can also use the starter trick if in a bind

For crank pully bolts I always use my 3/4 inpact. it puts out 1100 ft/lbs of torque and loosenes pully nuts like a charm. Ive tried holding the pully with a chain strap and using a breaker bar with no results. a 1/2 impact just doesnt quite have enough jam either. Try and find a a 3/4 impact to borrow off someone and your laughin. also make sure you are running atleast 150psi so it can work to its full potential.
