They're a press fit, if it slides right off it wasn't on correctly in the first place.

Not slide but wiggles. If it falls off ya. So your saying youve never taken a pulley off with only your hands? Always use a puller?

Interesting. The only ones ive seen that needed it had a dirty crank snout. All others could be wiggled off. Not easy but a puller was not needed.

It was designed to be a machined fit, not a pressed fit. Corrosion or tool marks sometimes make it more difficult to remove. If you clean up both the pulley and crankshaft, youll notice it will slide right on, then immanently back off again without issue. Almost all Toyotas are this way, the older and more corroded they are the harder they are to remove.

ok good news i got the crank pully off today. I used my 4 way and the 19mm side to do it. I braced it up on the crame and it came right loose..... And my pully wiggled off but i am cleaning both ends of it to unsure it goes back on well... thank you for all your help and great ideas.

Knowledgefail.

Watch it smartass.

Anyway, no idea why you guys could get it off that easily, I had to use a puller on the main pulley and the timing pulley behind it. Both keys were tight and there wasn't any rust. Guess YMMV on this...

Never pulled the timing pulley off that i can remember those usually are a tighter fit. The crank is not tho.

the hard part is dont now putting back together. I have adjustable cam gears... how far should i advance them.??????

do you have aftermarket cams? if not then you shouldn't mess with them.

i have bc stage 1. I lost the cam profile card that came with them i am looking on line to see what do advance them too. other then that everything is to gether and running well. I have more low end torque but lost top end. I have my cams advanced 5 deg at the moment..... timing still needs some fine tuning....

You need to advance 1 and retard the other. IDk which 1s tho. I think its advance the intake and retard the exhaust. \ /
