You're describing a slotting machine Dave, single point cutter.

The other way of doing internal keyways is a broach, neither of which will do a Woodruff Keyway, the tool I posted is the only way I've ever done them.

If removing the crank anyways, wouldn't it be an easier/better solution to cut a new keyway 180 from the original and just put a new 0 mark on the damper for timing?

May as well just throw a fresh crank at it if that's the case.

My key looked like that as well. Now the second key for the timing pully/gear has got me worried, and I can't seem to get it out of the crank.

The keyway cutter can not be used in an electric drill or die grinder.
They are for use in a milling machine only.
That means the crank needs to be out of the car.

And I can see the wear step in that crank.
It's toast. It will never keep a crank pulley on it again.
Get over it, and put a good used crank in it.
You will also need a good pulley, and a good timing gear/pulley.
The reason that the crank bolt was way over tightened is probably the guy you bought it from had the pulley come loose, and drove it that way.
Instead of fixing it right, he hammered the crank bolt back into it just to sell the thing.

agreed 100% on finding another Crank, the amount of time and effort these guys go to trying to save fucked parts is a joke... :nono:

Oh, I figured, but people were not pointing that out, and some where talking about dremmils, and crap.
Just thought I would clear some of the fog of war.
+1 on saving frocked parts.
Who ever bolted that dampener back on the crank in the first place was the first to make the 'I can save it' mistake.
It lasted just long enough to get rid of it.

The only people who mentioned dremmils, are you and me. Did you have a problem with the question I asked?

I get what your saying, but I don't have the money for a new crank at the moment. If I was going to pull the crank I would rebuild the whole bottom end. Right now I just want to fix it and drive it untill I have enough money to do the car from the ground up.
I'm not looking to drag race the car or beat on it. It sucks that I had to find out the hard way how every thing on this car is F"ed up. If I wasn't about to move belive me the engine would be out of the car right now. As for now I just need it back on the road. I have new pulley's (timming, and acc belt pulley along with new woodruffs/keyways). My plan for now is get it going for the summer and the move then do a swap over the winter.
