I finally figured out how this works. I was afraid i would need to remove the bronze looking piece in the back but it is just the bearing and bearing seal. My seal was cooked hard and cracked and upon removal it broke up like a cracker.

I had to slam the shaft down on a board to get the shaft to pop out. Then shoved a screw driver into the hole and upon the bearing lip and slam it down to get the bearing to start moving out. I moved the location of the screwdriver along the edge of the lip of the bearing to pop it out evenly.

I was able to order the parts from NAPA but the 6mm part number (3936) did not come up. I ordered the 7mm 3939. I also ordered i think the 3937 or was it 3938 which i dont know what it is but i hope it is a 6mm part number. I will be happy when installed with no leaks.

Does anyone know how the electronic internals could be replaced/reworked?

I will attach a pic so you can see the bearing that is under the shaft.

i will install the seal/bearing when the seal comes in wednesday or so.

thanks to all for the help.

Hal, Clean the housing and shaft with carb clean. make sure there are no burrs on the shaft, especially around the drift pin area. They will tear you're new seal. Also the cover and gasket are probobly cracked- hard. They can be purchased at toyota for cheap.

i pollshed the shaft and especially at the bearing and seal area with a cross buff of very fine. The old seal wore a trench into the shaft and polishing it up helped to get rid of it. I will be so happy to get rid of all of the cps leaks so for when i switch to synth oil.

What kind of pin do i need to replace into the drive gear?

I used my old one. But, Napa can hook you up with the proper size. If the pin Napa supplies is too long you can just gring off the excess.

I'm trying to disassemble mine, but the pin won't budge. It DOES just press out, right? All the pictures dictate that it does, but mine won't move.
How did you guys remove the pin? I feel like a wicked n00b!

The stock toyota drift pin has a head on it. carefully grind the head off and tap it out the opposite way. Check TSRM online, it will show you the correct way. LMK how things work out. Joe
