If my machinist removed 7 thousandths of parent metal from my head and I am just lapping the block, what diameter of mhg do I need to get??

Is the HKS stopper gasket still the meanest mother available?

Where can I get a walbro fuel pump and what size do I need, how much should I plan on spending???

I just finished my ac delete. Smooooooth. I still need to cap off at the fire wall but the car isn't moving yet so no worries. But what do you guys think about rear seat delete??? I was thinking if I did this I would fashion something to carry some tools in but pretty much just have it all carpeted over.

I'm going to order some parts this week, I just wanted to get a feel for what everyones using. Thanks for your time.

We removed more than that from the block and head combined, so we used a 2.0mm gasket. We also shaved the tops of the pistons. The static compression was increased due to the amount of material we removed from the block. It worked out nice.

The block needs it also. But the head get's warped being made from alluminum. I lapped my block because it looked good. I even went out and bought a long level and some feeler gauges.

I ordered over a grand in parts, found my walbro and then found out my main pump line from the tank is kinked in 2 places so..., new that.

I didn't have my block decked main reason. Didn't want to pull the angine and all of that. I can't believe your'e asking honestly with over 2k in posts, you should know this Nick.., C'mon man you've got one use it. Kidding ofcourse.

So you checked your block with a machined straight edge and one thousandth feeler gauge from a tool peddler? Just checking.

I did use a machined straight edge that is why I chose the level I bought.
The smallest gauge I have is .008 and it caught nowhere and would not go under so for doing it myself I'm happy and feeling optimistic about it.

The block's warpage spec is only .002". I highly doubt it would ever reach .008" anyway.

I just don't want to see you go through a lot of work only to lose the gasket a few months down the road.

I know what your'e getting at Nick and I don't want that either. I figured you were about to school me if I was way off base. So expound your wisdom upon me, if you will.

I was just refering to that there is "flat" and then there is flat. I am talking about the latter. Your right, the block won't warp as easily as head. But you just want to be sure.

A level with a bubble like a carpenter would use is "flat", and not an acceptable device to check for warpage. A machined straightedge from a tool peddler like Snap-On is. The machine shop will also have one. That is how they do their double check of your items when you turn them in. It will look sort of like a metal yardstick, with one edge being shinny. That is the flat side. There is a hole in one end. You hang this tool, as setting down will slightly warp it over time. Just like laying anything down over time.

Right on. We used to have old cam shafts strung from the barn rafters to keep the from warping. I think they are still there, point of fact.

I have had this car for a year and only put 3,500 miles on it. So if it wears out the new tires it has before it shucks again, I'll be fine. I'll rebuild it right the next time, right meaning pull it all out and new internals for the lower end as well.

In a perfect world it will love the effort it's getting and provide me with a pleasent 3 years of indentured servitude before it makes me rebuild it completely.
