I read this on wikipedia:
The 1.5JZ is not a production engine but is created by combining a 1JZ head with a 2JZ bottom end. The 1JZ cylinder head will, with modifications to the oil gallery alignment, bolt on to the 2JZ bottom end.
Is this true and if so what exactly does it mean? I have a 1jz head and a 2jzge block I had hoped to use.

The oil hole is slightly off between the two. It doesnt really affect anything as long as it can get through. No probs on mine so far with like 10k miles on it.

I used a 1j HG btw.The only part you need that toyota didn't make is a water neck extension. Which I sell (plug plug lol).

But yeah in laymans terms it just spools hella fast lots of torque. Smaller ports=faster airflow down low and (compared to 2j) less up top. The difference up top isn't terrible unless youre going for big power. Some people say "you could always port it out and get cams" but then you'd basically have a 2j so what's the point of a 1jz head by then? Again, the entire point is the faster flow in lower rpm. Fwiw mine feels like it has a blower not a turbo. 400wtq by 4000rpm yes please!

I'm sure there's a lot of 1.5j people that'll chime in so I'll leave it at that.

I used a stock head gasket on mine too and it blew up shortly after. I rebuilt it with a 2.0 hg and the math shows me having 8.7 cr.

1.5JZ's started in Japan because of the engine size restrictions for age... Easy way to sneak a larger engine in without being noticed to the untrained eye. They're also easier to wire in than a 2J (not an NA-T on 7MGTE electronics).

Oh sorry I have a GTE block but yeah it's all stock.

Just put the GTE timing gear and oil pump stuffs on the GE so you can mount the cranks sensor.
