No offense, but Charlie at evergreen built 6 of my turbos in one batch, and
I had to pay to have 4 rebuilt, and the other two cracked the housings they
died so bad. He was a nice guy, but he uses a cheap rebuild kit, and couldn't
have balanced them.

... You must have dealt with a different Charlie, because... well, a couple reasons.
He's got a website, but you see how old it is - he doesn't advertise. All word of mouth. You both should know that word of mouth advertising is pretty much the best way to know if someone is really good, or not.
Far be it from me to sit here behind a keyboard and defend someone that doesn't even know he's being discussed, but when he upgraded my mitsu turbo, I hung out in his 'shop' (it's a giant garage next to the guy's house) as he did all the machine work, polished the turbine shaft, and yes, I watched him balance it right before my eyes. Also performed a 12 degree clip on the exhaust side, since I told him that 16g was getting mated up to a 2.8L V6. When he sandblasted the turbine housing out, he pointed out 2 small cracks for me - and then replaced the housing with a spare TD05H he had lying around, that had already been CNC ported - for $20.
I brought him an Ebay 14b rebuild kit. He wouldn't use it, and actually told me I should send it back, due to inferior bearing material.
I don't know where you guys think he uses (again, I'm severely doubting same Charlie) 'rebuild kits' - He doesn't. He uses bearings that he sources himself, in various sizes. Furthermore, during the rebuild, he mic'd everything, didn't like the bearing clearances, and turned around and bored out the cartridge, and used oversized bearings - just because it was the right thing to do.
This isn't hearsay - this was all witness right before my eyes, as I spent about 3 hours b/s'ing with him, as he did the work in an afternoon for me.
That 16g turbo took my 135 stock hp 2.8L V6 Camaro to 222/291 @ the wheels, on 7psi from a 16G turbo, lasted approx 13k miles, with ZERO problems, ZERO leakage, and I ended up selling it to pick up a T61 for the Camaro, instead.
I mean, again, I'm not trying to stir up anything, but I find it kind of funny that both the turbo sellers on here are talking badly about a guy that literally works in his spare time, in a garage that sits next to his house, that I have personally witnessed do amazing work while I watched - not to mention came highly recommended from MANY DSM guys on Orlando DSM forums, and rebuilds turbos for everything from road racing Porsches, giant diesels, SVO Fords, to crazy guys that get this weird itch to turbocharge a motor everyone hates
:dunno: Seems odd to me, that's all. He's extremely highly recommended here in Central Florida.
