i tried searching the threads. doing the rebuild thing and had to go to a scrapyard for an interior piece and noticed that the oil dipstick on the supra i was picking from was different than the one under my hood. i had a black handled T-shape handle dipstick. the one in the junk supra was a yellow ring pull dipstick. length is what's important here. i'm guessing. which one is correct? thanks guys. oh, btw-mine's an NA and the junker was a turbo.

lol, maybe they just threw in whatever they had at the time? Neither of my motors are imported, though one of them was originally a turbo block, I think...

Edit: Actually, both of them are 86.5's. Maybe the T handle is a hold over from the mk2?

My 89 and 91 both have a black T handle with a cable..........and I check mine on a regular basis, but only out of fear and not necessity.

Like I said...

So far as I've ever seen the pre-89 turbos had the yellow ring while the 89+ turbo had a T handle.

Dunno aobut the N/A's but the dipsticks aren't the same length. It's easy to tell which one is which easily though as the Turbos have a cable, and the N/A's are sticks IIRC...
