I'm not going to debate what's "better" -- however coolant provides:

Higher boiling temps
Anti-corrosion protection
Lubrication for your water pump

Those are reason enough to run some form of coolant (be it water wetter or an antifreeze compound) in the system.

On my road course car (the MKIV hardtop) I run water wetter in the summer and Toyota Red in the winter (both with distilled water).

I think you need to read a very important thread that was a link to the link in this thread,

Great info. 50/50 is basically what you need. You can run 60/40 depending on application and ingredients. But basically 50/50 toyo red or other with distalled water is what you need and all you need. And never run 100% water esp tap water. Tap water is what gives your rust.

Edit: my info was for street. Do what you want on track and most tracks prefer water only. for clean up.

There are 2 strokes that dont ryun coolant even and they dont take the abuse a car engine does.

I see where your getting at and i have prolly read the link before.

Its kinba like break in info with motoman with hard break in vs ol skool slow break in. Tho every manufacture out there has a a 50/50 coolant and it works not matter what in everything but substantial climates. I worked on test cars and they would test everything in coldest climates and hottest. Stock off the lot and recorded and tried to improve off the other cars finding from say for or chevy or nissan or toyota.
