Hey guys, for those who have seen me on here before, I just got my 87 Supra up and running, finally.

My question is about that little rubber cap that goes on a dead end of the cooling system. If you are looking at the front of the car, it's on the left (passenger) side next to the engine block and firewall. It blew off today with much steam! It's the original one.

Do I need to replace it with a cap just like it? If so, where would I find one? Are there more dependable fixes? Thanks!

Well it definitely needs to be capped securely so an OEM style would be best. A dealer would be your best bet to find it, though if your local autoparts stores are staffed by intelligent people(good luck) they may be able to find something similar. If you're desperate you can use a short length of heater hose with a bolt in the end.

yeah, I guess I will just go back to the dealership.
I had another question, my stock intake tubing is cracking. I can't find any intake upgrades other than the filters only. Where can I find an entire intake kit or just the piping?

If you want to replace the cap get it from the dealer, the one's at the auto parts stores are not reinforced and will blow again, been there done that :)

The intake tube, which one are you looking for? I might have one or you can post in the "Wanted to buy" section, I'm sure there are a few out there collecting dust. Or several have made their own from pieces from Pep Boys or the others.

I have the intake piping for sale right now. :) I only have the piece between the AFM and the damper listed but if you need the damper and elbow I could find them for you.

yeah, i'm planning on getting it from the dealership, i just like to avoid the dealership cause of $$$.

I'm looking to upgrade the section between the throttle body and the air flow sensor (or whatever you call it, it's stock). i've seen people with this section changed out before. the only thing is that one of the vacuum lines connects to this section so i would need a place on the replacement to have a hose connection.

The dealership hasn't been as bad as the autoparts store for me. Everything from the dealer fits and has been good quality. The junk at the autoparts store is cheap high margin junk that is overpriced.

I replaced all the hoses under the hood with dealer replacements w/o any regret.

The "autozone" is pretty crappy IMO

The "old type hardware stores" compared to a Home Depot. You could get the bolt to fix the problem at the hardware store but the Home Depot business model is to sell you a whole new replacement.
