Im in the process of swapping the 1JZ into my MA70, but i bought the engine/tranni/ECU/harness set up....

I want to run my MA radiator but what do you guy's recommend for a fan ect???

I want to keep it inexpensive at this point. I know the hydo fan set up is great but it's expensive, any suggestions???

Thanks guy's!!!

Im convinced that eveyone is just using the wrong type of electric fans because there are too many high HP car out there now that use electric fans.

Im going to be making my own E fan setup for my 85' t61'd 2j. I will be using a Perma Cool 14" and a 12" fan for a combined CFM of 5,950 and IF that doesnt work then ill give in and go mechanical. But I think one of the big issues with a stock 1j-2j is that they have too many things being cooled with water, like the oil cooler and the twins.

On a side note the hydro fan on my old 1j 92' was great but it was very messy, one little leak and it blows ATF all over under your hood.

Electric fans are not all bad, it's the FAL fans that are the suxors. The other problem is from poor quality wiring jobs and not using multiple relays or a real fan controller. Even worse is having FAL fans switched to always run with the ignition. Spal makes a nice dual 11" fan and a PWM fan controller, that is the best setup imho....IF you have to go electric. I still like the hydrofan FTW! Or I would still run a clutch fan over an electric fan for reliability and overall cooling capacity.

Like Aaron said, the hydro fan is the shit!! I am using the Driftmotion braided steel high pressure line and I have no leaks whatsoever. Not a messy setup at all:icon_bigg Not to mention, combine that with the Koyo radiator and that is a killer cooling setup!!

Just buy the Koyo radiator because it kicks ass. Then you will have to have a hydrofan ECU and have a jza70 supra harness. You will also need the temp sensor, hydrofan water pump with solenoid, fan assembly with shroud, and all the lines including cooler line and fluid resevoir.

I dont have any problems with my fal fans, they cool awesome! even with the a/c on in 95* weather..

To run stock IC piping or similar routing, hydrofan is the best bet, if not electric fans, If you want to make ic piping you can run a 2j mech fan and a 7m rad shroud.

Hydro fan uses a special water pump that has a hydraulic pump built into it. There's also a resivoir on the exhasut side for fluid (it's ATF), and a hydraulic fan on the radiator. There's also a cooler underneath the stock IC.

Resivoir on the far left side. Feeds into the water pump, then on to the fan, through the cooler, and back.

Here's the cooler. This is not the stock location, I've relocated it. Normally it sits about 4" back.

I forgot to mention, there's also an ECU that controls the fan, with a temperature sensor that plugs into the bottom of the radiator. Without it, the fan will simply function on high speed all the time, no big deal.

i am running the same fan setup as tissmo with a 1jz for over a year now and no problems from it at all, even after driving hard or long distances the car stays cool and runs fine
