And, just in case you were wondering...

Engine undercover, part # 51441-14110, MSRP $164.02, Price from Champion Toyota $123.02.

Money well spent.

I would not run this car (as many do) without one.

I don't feel like listing all the reasons...but I will say, the belly cover is more important than a lot of Supra owners realize.

It's not that drastic as you state. I havent had one since 1995. I NEVER have a over heating problem. I run an electric fan running off of a temp sensor, which means my fan isn't always on. Something is making it over heat and you havent found the problem yet Getting an under cover will help, but you may find you still have an over heat problem. I am not saying don't get an under cover, I am saying you may have another issue causing you to run hot.

Tons of people buy electric fans based on the CFM, I never see those fan companies state at WHAT inches of mercury this alleged CFM is produced. The facts are there is resistance thru any heat exchanger and unless you have actually done the tests on your fan, I would never believe the CFM numbers. Also all those fans that state "pusher or puller" are full of shit too. Ever seen an airplane prop that could be installed either way? I modified a factory Ford 2 speed fan fully expecting to have to make a fan shroud and never needed it, hell I usually only need the lower speed. Remember your results may vary mine was installed in a different vehicle but still powered by a 7M. I also have a custom fully aluminum radiator, and in my opinion I think the factory aluminum core radiators cool better.

Your not loosing coolant are you? COUGH (BHG) COUGH:icon_eek:

While you're down at the dealership ordering that under-cover, get yourself a genuine Toyota thermostat and gasket. That beck-arnley stuff might work well on a SBC, but isn't going to perform as well as the stock Toyota unit in your car.

I come from a land down under
Ant: As I said I see 5>8c difference and this is on a perfect condition cooling system, if anything is marginal ie: clogged with leaves/bugs AC Condensor, bent fins, missing Seals/plastics,incorrect coolant, dying water pump, bad T stat, bad rad cap it could be enough to tip a 7M into BHG land.

sorry about the caps.... Its a good stat 160degree beck arnley, the radiator is brandy knew, GM style 3 bar aluminum, I have a custom set up so its offset for plumbing reasons. I have a 2800cfm fan on it and it is fine 99% of the time but on those hot days in july in trafic it just starts to get heat soaked AND at high way speeds it allways seem to creep up to the fan on temp and cycles around it, never overheats just clylces. I think I actually have a problem with air not running over the radiator, I think it bypasses its way around and under the rad. I am goin to try a belly pa, I made some blocks for the side it offset from. I HAVE removed the heater pipe altogehter and wondered if this reduced heating efficency? thanks for all the comments.

I have used the ford Taurus fan, and the ford contour dual fan with great results. The ford Taurus fan is a very powerful fan from my experience. I have it on a temp switch controled by the Wolf v500. As stated some fans dont work worht a damn in making the CFM's stated. I had as zirgo fan that wasnt worth the money I paid for it. All those variables you mentioned IJ plus the possible lower than stated CFM fan speeds as ARZ stated can cause mayhem on the cooling system.

What's good IJ.

Once I was riding with a friend and there was one of those tissue thin plastic grocery bags just floating thru the wind dodging ever car on the freeway, it lofted our way and went straight at the grill, I wasn't driving so I didn't bother to look in the mirror to see if it came out. In about a mile or 3 the car starts to get hot and I ask the driver. Did you see the bag exit? He said "I didn't look" I said "You dumb ass!!!" we look at the radiator and the bag had fused itself to every fin and tube on the radiator, it took forever to get that stuff off before we could drive it.

Lesson: Make sure the bag exits or pull over right away to make sure it doesn't fuse to the radiator. This was in the olden days before intercoolers, lol.

Did you happen to look at the front of the radiator. Any rats nests or anything in between the condenser and the radiator?
