Good Evening Guys,
I want to run a 180 thermostat in my car. I have read others here do. Does anyone know the Toyota, Napa, or other part #. I tried tonight and the guy seemed pretty helpless, not knowing where or how to cross reference it. Any help appreciated.

Thanks,

Dan

The FailSafe 160 Degree Thermostat runs about 16.88 and the part # is 1435687. They also make a regular 160 for about 8.88 and that # is 1430687

i have that t'stat. you might have trouble getting one tho. i had to special order mine since it is discontinued. there might be a few places that have them in a warehouse and when they are gone they are gone. if you are on the east coast dont go to napa since i got the last one in the warehouse ;)

they ship in one day from the site. Advance, Autozone, and Napa all pull from "Parts America" which is where they're in stock

well im just saying what i was told by napa. i was told i got the last one in the warehouse when it was picked up. i went a couple weeks later to get a buddy one and a different guy told me about them being discontinued and cofirmed what the other guy said.

by all means, if you can get one go ahead. was just putting a forewarning out there in case someone had some issues finding one.

nah, that's cool. I understand what you're saying. But what I was saying is that it's possible that the Napa wharehouse discontinued it, but is still available through parts america which supplies Advance, Autozone, etc..

I have a new stock radiator. With all the work can't afford the Fluidyne yet. The new JMT Turbo and head work were spendy. Can't wait to have her running. Should be ready early next week.

If you can find the thermostat it be a great mod for a stocker, but after you upgrade you WILL break the 160 thermo. I've gone through two of them in less than 3 months with the Koyo.

If you are running 215 plus, you probably have a cooling system malfunction. And the t-stat only maintains minimum temperature, not maximum.

If you are running hot, replace the fan shroud if it is gone. If the fan clutch is loose, and not tight, replace it with a new unit. That is an important step to not overheating and getting a BHG. Clean all the crap on the front of your heat exchangers. Wash it good with your garden hose and watch all the crap come down. Change the radiator cap in accordiance with the repair manual service specs. Replace the missing under cover if it is torn.

The reason I ask about the stand alone is the factory ECU measures the coolant temp sensor, and makes fuel and igntion correction based on it.
