Toyota's premixed "pink" coolant is really good for one thing though:

Against a blue funnel that's lit up with direct sunlight, the resulting color you get when pouring the pink coolant in? It's quite awesome. :p

Newer fords use the g05. Good stuff. Use it at work all the time.

Revived from the dead. Ford is using DexCool, and I use that term loosely, these days. I had a hard time finding published GM or Ford info on compatibility. They still like to pretend that they don't do some of the things they do. I found information from Ashland (Zerex) stating you could use their orange coolant in booth. Same with Prestone now.

But the reason for my thread revival is I was wondering if there are any SAE papers or studies done with the different coolants and heat transfer. I know they don't change them for heat reasons, but metal, but I was wondering if some things worked better than others.

The additives have negligible impact on heat transfer. Water has a specific heat of 1, and Ethylene glycol has a specific heat of 2.78. So the biggest impact on heat transfer is the ratio of water to glycol. More water is better, although corrosion becomes an issue if too diluted.

Obviously corrosion will degrade heat transfer to/from the engine and radiator so along with the coolant you need a clean non corroded cooling system.

I have been using the cheap green stuff for about seventeen years now. Nothing bad to report with yearly changes.

Green stuff is also going in on my expensive rebuild, too.

Same MK3 radiator since 2007 or so.

Fans have done more to increase cooling than ANY one thing. I am using a slightly modified 2013 Ford Focus fan. Very similar dimensions.

Great so far in last year's summer.
