well, i decided to go 1J cause not many people in NJ have 1jz motors. I figured i can stand out from the 7M crowd in jersey. I also liked the fact it has a front facing intake manifold, twins, almost all metal gaskets and its a high reving 2.5 motor. I did alot of research for basic stuff just in case stuff breaks down and where i can find parts from. I found i can find alot of parts and wont need to worry about it. I got a full engine gasket set from champion toytoa for 170 shipepd. I will be purchasing another just in case. I can get a starter from a 91-92 supra. I can swap alts and stuff. I can use 2J parts for aftermarket and some repair. All others essentially are 7M/2J so i didnt worry about it too much. Then i decided to price out both the 7M build and 1J swap. So far its well worth what i will get in the end which is near. I will be happy with it once im done. I am sure. Do some homework on both 7M work and 1j swap work and price everything out and then decide what you want to do.
PS. I am a full time student and i work a full time job. I have to pay my own rent and utilities. I have to buy my own food and survive on my own. I have to work twice as hard as work so i dont lose my job and stress about bills and shit. I still stress about bills but as long as i have a roof over my head i'll be happy. Get a part time job, while in school, if you live at home with your parents that will help ALOT!. I wish i lived with my parents again. I am only 23 i've been living on my own since 20. I'll be 24 next month(the 10th). Its not hard but it is also not easy. Good luck with what ever setup you choose.
