I have a 89 n/a that I am doing a full gte swap with. The engine should be done in the next week or two. My only problem is that I am 2 hours away from my house for school. I also work here where I go to school. I need the engine to be reliable enough to get to and from my job and home over the christmas break holidays. While this is a new engine I am sure there will be some bugs i'll have to work out of it once the new engine is in. Should I just wait until after the break or are most people pretty successful with having no problems with a brand new swapped engine? Thanks guys!

It all depends on your trust of the person doing the work and of the engine that was installed.

If you have a reasonable level of trust for both then drive it around for a couple days and put a couple hundred miles on it before driving long distance.

If you don't trust one or the other then leave it be until you have more time for it.

Well I am the one who is building it, but I feel pretty good about it. Everything I have done so far is within spec according to the TSRM. I haven't chaaped out anywhere or anything. I supposed my biggest concern is a sensor going bad or something and getting stuck.

Just drive it around for a day or two before making a long trip and you should be fine.

If it doesn't go out in a couple hundred miles around town then if it blows it wasn't from your workmanship. ;)

Yea...i'd like to have it done before christmas. I have some friends coming into town that I'd like to show the new engine. I just don't want to rush anything though...too many people do that and end up blowing things on these engines. Cheaping out is something I have definitely not done with this build.

With competence and 3 or 4 times the amount of money you think you need, it'll run for the next 10 years with only normal maintenance.

He lyin. He's not the only one who's building this motor ha. I'm helping him out and I rebuilt my engine myself and its going on 8000+ miles now and everythings good. We're taking our time making sure we don't miss anything. I'm sure everything will be good to go to drive where ever after the break in.

Well yea noob I forgot to mention you. If it was just me building it I'd be buying a shell to put it in. I hope it can go in before chrizma.
