Concerns about Pupra

I am attending school in Penn in april and I have to drive from Connecticut to get there. I am really considering selling the supra for something fresher and can be more reliable. What do you guys think?
If I do sell my car I was thinking of replacing it with a 97-01 Subaru RS with a good STI engine swap. On the forums for the 2.5rs i was able to find many good looking engine swapped cars for around 12,000. Do you think it would be worth me going for it?

when i was a poor lil college student i drove 55miles one direction for class everyday for about 2 years. Only was let down once when one of the 20+ hoses decided to let go. Only thing more i could have asked was slightly better gas milage. Goodluck

i was a driver for a company for a while. drove 200 miles a day and i was very please with both gas, longevity, comfort and speed. no regrets at all. just do all preventative maintenance and your set.

If your car is running well I don't see the need to sell it. If you get another car you don't know the history and such. Keep the supra in good shape and you ought to be fine. That's coming from a fellow college student who is quite poor.

If you're going to buy something for reliability a swapped anything is about the dumbest idea ever.... :nono:

You need to ask yourself if it's so great why are they selling it

I don't think you should. I'm a huge fan of subie's also. But I think IJ. Is right. A swapped anything is a realiablity problem.

Sti swaps in the 95-01 body subie are very stright forward. No engine mount kits, no tranny fitment problems,etc. These cars to me are the most swapable vechiles...and I have done many swaps. Wether it was a 2.5 engine in a car that had a 2.2, or the wrx swap, and then an sti swap. The hardest part is part of the body harness under the dash is integral to the ecu wiring and needs to be sliced. A lot of people don't do that and end up with airbag, abs, and check engine lights.

I still say keep the supra. A trip to penn isn't that far, just do your pre trip maintence. I drove my old white car home from california, and to and from virginia. Take car of it and it will return the favor.

They're bullet-proof, and you wouldn't have to sell the supra.
I've been driving a 94 civic DX, and the only problem it's ever had was a waterpump failure and a cv axle replaced on driver's side because it made a clicking sound in turns,
over the past 220,000 miles. The engine's never been opened up and it gets 40 mpg.

Why not just spend like under 25% of 12,000 and get your car in top shape.... I mean, only you know the conditions of the car itself... Either way you wouldnt be thinking bout selling it unless something was making you feel uncomfartable big time.... Or you prob just want a good excuse to get a Subaru ..... I am attending college too and I have to drive for about 40 min every morning.. I went the rebuild rout and borrowed a car for the mean time... Maybe a less expensive non performance non fast car can get you thru a semester while your engine is new again ...

I was thinking of taking some of the money I would get a car with and refreshing the supra. Stock rebuild etc. maybe slightly upgrade internals,,, nothing major. The problem that I would have with that is TIME. I have to be in Pennsylvania on april 1. That won;t leave me a lot of time to get the supra up and going.

What is everyones opinion on the 2005-current Subaru Legacy 2.5GT's? I know I wouldn;t call it a "sports car" but for an everyday dependable driver?

the regular,,,, I can;t find any spec b's for sale in my price range.

The regular gt's don't have enough different from reglar legacys for me to justify buying one.

well I have a little update for all of you. I have a good chance of getting an 05 STI for school. If I get the car I will more then likely sell the supra.
