Can someone briefly describe how compressor surge sounds like on our 7MGTE motors with CT26z.

I have a 60 trim CT26 with all stock exhaust and intake pipes...

I noticed when i rev up driving or even staying still, my stock Recirculating BOV makes a flapping noise. like " flap flap flap flap..."

Which sounds cool for a bit... until i looked closer.. popped the hood, disconnected the vacuum line from the recirc, and still heard it.. then i pinched the recirc pipe nearly closed enroute to AFM pipe, and it still make that noise when i revved it up. So i pretty much diagosed the noise isnt coming from the BOV area.. but more from the intake filter area ( guessing its compressor surge and noise coming through K&N filter..)

Am i right?

it will sound like a fluttering release of air when you let off the gas. if your bov is working right, it wont flutter, it will be one burst of air. just try adjusting you bov. thats if its aftermarket. from what you said it sounds like surge.

I adjusted my BOV last night. It was not venting either. Luckily I don't think I have any compressor damage from it. I never boosted over 7 PSI.

early ones did, as do the knock offs...
mine is authentic/ newer. i know its installed right (common sense) and im running vacuum to it- pain in ass since bov is located behind bumper. anybody esle's ssqv make the fluttering noise instead of higher pitch "chirp"??

Mine did until I threw it out and replaced it with the bosch. Now it is a nice whoooosh of air and instant boost recovery no more shift lag. :)

lack of adjusting screw on ssqv is a selling point for hks. u dont need one because of the sequential valve design. easier to tune with- which is why im using it instead of my blitz
