Did a compression test today, and these were the results:

Looks like a blown head gasket between 4 and 5. What do you guys think?
This is the problem it's having. Don't mind the "knocking" sound, it's the throw out bearing in the tranny.

BTW I bought this car like this for $400, knowing it was most likely a blown head gasket. I already have the gasket set, as well as a JDM head in case it's something else bad.

do a coolant test before you automaticly think its a blown headgasket just because the numbers are down on those cyl.

all the rest could have carbon buildup.

clearly i typed all of that up there /\/\/\/\/\ before i watched the videos. that thing sounds like its desieling and runnin on half the cly.

anyways do a coolant test itll tell you for sure.

That doesn't sound or look like a BHG. What that sounds like is your timing is way retarded. When I first built my motor and I first started it up it sounded exactly like that. What you have to do is jump those 2 pins per the TRSM and set the timing 10 degrees BTDC.

did you do this test with the throttle 100% opened? because that will affect the results...

but if it was a BHG, i would think your compression would be much lower on the cylinder(s) that are blown... do a leak down test to see if 4 and 5 are really leaking into each other.

from the videos, you need to pull the codes, adjust the timing, or at least make sure its good...
make sure your air filter isnt all nasty (you bought the car for $400... dont expect much along the maintence route)

You have to take the throttle body off to get to 3 and 4, so it eliminates the need for that. :icon_razz
I'm going to check the timing soon...working a lot so I haven't had that much time to work on my projects.
I pulled the codes and they were 12 and 21.
12: RPM signal
21: Oxygen Sensor Signal

I looked inside the cylinders and I could see brown water inside cylinders 3, 5, and 6. There's also milkshake on the oil cap. Definitely looks like a BHG...thing is, why would it cause the car to run like this? Could it be that the PO tried to drive it after it started overheating? Or maybe he got it back to the house and messed with the timing?
Anyways, I have to do a leakdown test, coolant check, and time it.

no theres water and oil in the cly, its not gonna fire to well. stop running the car or it will damage the bearings! change the headgasket then the oil and then the coolant.

theres no need for tests if youve got milkshake coolant and you can see it in the cly then its got a blown headgasket.

The only time I ran it was for those videos.

Well.. the milkshake and the coolant in the cylinders is most certainly a BHG but I will still say that the reason the motor is running so poorly is because of the timing. This is why you are throwing the RPM code. My guess is that the previous owner messed with the distributor and threw the timing off. Jump the 2 terminals in the connector under the hood near the battery per the TRSM and set the timing to 10 degrees BTDC. W
You advance the timing by turning the distributor clockwise (towards the front of the car). If you can't set the timing correctly you may have skipped a tooth on the timing belt. Its easily replaced if you have to do the head gasket.

yeaaaaaa he shouldnt mess with the timing at all because that means hed have to be running the car again. not a good idea. and hes got oil and water in 2 of the 6 cly its not gonna run awesome by any means. when your done with the headgasket swap just set the timing back to stock.

but dont run the car again right now to check. its not gonna get any better IF it even would get better which i highly doubt it will.

Nice supra mason you have seen mine!
If you buy my brothers turbo 7M and rebuild it instead of the NA you should be making up to 400hp with mods. By the way my brother recovered his integra that was stolen they found it in chino it was beat up but mostley in one piece.
