I hope this make sense...OK I Have a 7mgte with a custom bellhousing behind a R151f transmission in my 86' 4runner, The problem is that I need a lot more holding power and my clutch keep slipping,
this is becasue I have a 23 spline 22r turbo clutch behind 7mge flywheel, the clutch kit is designed for the 22R turbo because the R151f is 23 spline. But the 22r turbo 23 spline clutch cannot hold the power of the 7mgte

So... I have a 23 spline input with a shaft lenth of the 21 spline, this is why I cant use the 7mgte clutch because I have to use a pressure plate desinged for a 7mge flywheel.
So here is my question: Can I buy a heavy duty, 7mgte 23 spline clutch disk. and put it behind a heavy duty 7mge pressure plate.

Can you heat treat your current pressure plate for extra holding ability?
How much extra force are you needing and what is your current clutch rated for and how much force is your 7mgte creating?

The 7mgte is running a full 3" exhaust, all the Fuel upgrades and upgraded ct26, and about 10 lbs of boost, The builder of by turbo said this should put me at about 300 torque to the wheels. My clutch now is for a 22r turbo mabe about 120 torque to the wheels. the clutch is just a heavy duty ungrade...mabe 30% more...I bought the clutch because I wanst plannin on modifying the motor too much...oh well.

Don't the r151f and r154 have the same input splines? If so, why can't you use a clutch for the r154?

I too did this swap but i didnt have a r154, What is the reason for not having a r154 7mgte flywheel and clutch setup? You can definately get clutch discs with enough clamping power to suit the 7mg to w56 setup as i had one made by exedy in australia and it destroyed gearboxs and diffs but never slipped.lol

OK The imput shaft on the R154 is longer than the R151. The R151 uses the same type of slave cylinder as the w56 or w58, the bell housing for the r154 is longer because on the clutch system is different than say the w58 of R151. another words I have a 7mge flywheel and 7mge bellhousing custom made to fit a R series 23 trans...I hope this makes sense:nono:
I cannot run a R154 bellhousing because its longer because the input shaft is longer because the slave cylinder and clutch system is different. I cannot run a R154 because I need the 4WD t-case and the lower truck grear ratios :icon_rolltherefore I have to run the R151 Which is the same as the R154 but different gears and an input shaft the same lenth as the w series tranny or 7mge tranny:aigo:
