When I put mine back together last time I machined some receiver grooves in the RK washers so they locate on the nut flanges.

Can I just confirm I'm picturing what you describe above. Like this?

I have a complete RK kit in front of me right now & will be attempting this job in the very near future. I have read this thread and everything else I can find on the subject. Do you guys who have done it have any tips for removing the subframe and installing these. Do's & don'ts? I have purchased a spare subframe and removed the rubber bushes from it in preperation.

Did yours come labeled? Mine didn't, hell I'm not even sure where I have placed mine at the moment, lol.

I bought EVERY bush for the entire car & they came labeled. Don't know if he would still do it for front / rear kits on their own. It would be pretty easy to figure out in that instance.

Here is a picture showing most of mine:

My steering rack bushes are already in the car, so not in the photo. I will also be getting rear upper spring perch poly isolators. Only fronts are supplied in the kit.

I come from a land down under
The holes in the washers are way too big and don't centre, the above "mod" makes it an idiot proof install as you don't need to try and centre them by hand and hope they don't move as you tighten the nuts.

That sounds like it would make life a lot easier. Wonder why they can't just come with the correct washers. I don't have access to machining equipment and I assume that most that buy this kit have the same issue.

The flat washers appear to have been laser cut from plate. I would guess this choice in process dictated the minimum size of the hole.

to anyone that has installed the front subframe bushings,

do you leave the "top-hat"?

the rubber washer that sits inbetween the frame rail and the subframe

thanks

In Ronnie's thread for the poly subframe bushings, he states that the insulator that sits between the subframe and body (the "tophat" you're talking about) is not needed :)

I'm honestly not sure if they have any negative effects with keeping them in there. You could PM Ronnie about it if you have doubts.

The only way I know how to get them out is to either A) drop the subframe enough to slide the spacers out, or B) lower the subframe a little bit, cut the spacers, and yank em out of there
