because that is the only rivet to be crushed and people would prefer to not have it get crushed because its an obstruction...
You're suppose to spray the copper on both sides a good amount allowing it to dry some and then install it.

I seriously suggest you check all the rivets. This is pretty easy to do, just lay the gasket down on the block and check if any of the rivets are holding the gasket up.

My HKS gasket needed a rivet drilled out as well.

I use a Cometic gasket, had to drill a rivet but after that it works perfect.

...okay, so the block/head go to the machineshop tomorrow....

Gonna ask for RA~40 (or less). Once I go to put it on, what's the deal with the Permatex? Do I need to do this with freshly machined surfaces?

If you get a fine enough RA, you will not need the spray.
