my car wont start in the mornings now that it has gotten pretty cold. i turn the key no crank or anything.. just hear all the electronic things clicking around. i turn the key really fast repeatedly and it will start to crank after awhile.. is the cold starter going bad? i have no clue whats causing it.

I've had this problem. It happens a lot with Denso starters. I replaced my starter about a year and a half ago and everything has been perfect since.
i agree with that too, happened to me, and happened to a friend of mine. actually.. we're going to install his new starter in about an hour.

may POSSIBLY be a starter issue, but most likely battery.
BTW: theres no such part as a cold starter. :stickpoke

Simple things 1st :biglaugh:

Yep...it's called a Cold Start Injector (CSI). It will not cause this problem...even if unplugged.

there is a good chance that your problem is the starter contacts. If your car won't start, try boosting it with a running car. If it starts, that is a good indication that your starter contacts are toast, not your starter.

Had a problem like that, turned out to be the theft deterrent box not giving the starter relay a ground it needs.

At the theft deterrent box under the driver's side dash, there is a blue/orange trace wire that goes back to the starter relay, think it is pin 13, try unplugging the theft deterrent box and ground out that wire, see what happens, this is what I did to remedy my click, click, click and occasional turning over.

Mind you I did all of this after buying the rebuild kit from Jeff at Champion, rebuilding it and re-installing it to find it was still fucked up and turning over occasionally.

I wound up using another relay, used the original "start" signal to trigger another relay by the starter and haven't had a problem since, not once.

Pm me if you need some more help.

Want to tell you that mine is a 91 model and my wires might be different colors as well as the theft ecu might have a different pin out.

Check you year with the online TEWD to verify your years wire colors and ecu pin out.

Not saying this will 100% work for you but it was my problem.

yea youll need about 4ft of extensions for a ratchet and socket toget in there.. youll have to go from the front of the engine. its a bitch :) Also, FWIW if you have an advance auto parts near you a new starter w/ lifetime warranty is $58.. Bring your old one with you so you dont have to pay the $30 core deposit..
