Cold Start and Warm Up Idle Questions

Ahh one more question whats everyone cold start idle speed? Mine seems to be 1350-1400 when its really cold but when its been sitting overnight and its about 65'F outside its like 1100-900 just wonder if this is good or bad and what affects it.

Sounds about right. Target cold idle speed is mostly determined by coolant temp, with oil pressure (assuming you're still using the stock gage) having a minor effect.

Thanks for your help folks i installed a used CSI from a 1991 Supra and heres the result from first crank. Temp outside was 45'F

i know this is a dumb question but where is the cold start injector located? i have the same problem.

My 7M was doing that exact thing. Hard to start but always would after a couple tries, and ran/starts fine once I got it going. After reading this, I thoroughly cleaned the cold start valve with carb cleaner, sealed it on with gasket maker, and used some liquid electrical tape on the harness. Not sure which part it was, but now it starts right up like a charm, even in below freezing temperatures. Never thought I would see this day!

Why didn't Toyota simply use the existing injectors to inject more fuel during cold startups? Why bother with the CSI that always gets clogged down the road?
