I recently rebuilt this engine and got it in the car. Since then I have been having numerous problems getting it to run correctly. Right now the car will start and idle fine. When I give it throttle it will hesitate a little to go up in rpm and it will also hesitate to come back down in rpm when I let off. But, it will always settle nicely back to the slightly higher cold idle rpm. However, the very second that the car gets to operating temperature the idle will drop and becomes very rough and it will sputter. If i give it gas it will hesitate a lot and then it will stall once the gas is off. Even if I let the gas off slowly the engine will not be able to catch the idle and it will die.
Background information:
-New rebuild with ALL new gaskets and hoses
-NO CODES
-High lift/duration cams adjusted with cam gears (car is pulling more vacuum at idle than it did with the stock cams)
-I fixed a few intake leaks but I think I may still have some.
-TPS adjusted correctly and checked with multimeter
-ISC valve checked per TSRM
-AFM resistances checked (also, no code)
-Slightly used spark plugs (less than 500 miles)
-Original spark plug wires and ignitors (worked before)
-Original FPR and fuel injectors (worked before)
-Timing set to 10*
I have done a lot of searching and one person had a similar problem and it ended up being their FPR.
Also, I wonder if the VSV for the FPR could be my problem. The red knob on it was moved, not sure what the does though.
I appreciate any help I can get, thanks guys.
