i really wanted to drop her a few inches.
the pics on my profile are old and since then
i got new 17' prophets and theres unneeded space between tire and car.
i knew the find was too good to be true.
guess the ebay brand coilovers just won't do?

anyone beg to differ?

May I suggest a setup, KYB struts and Eibach springs, affordable and a great ride.
Trust me you will get a good ride height off that also.

Definitely Do Not buy those ebay coilover sleeves, and Definitely look into some Eibachs. That link you posted above is fine and all, but I have two suggestions:

1) take a little break from ebay dude, go look at the prices of some of the other venders, just to be nice :)
2) you can usually find a used set of springs on here pretty easily, and they would of course be cheaper. Seeing as it appears to be pretty obvious that you're trying to save money, I'd just keep an eye out for some good used stuff

if your into budget..you can find used aftermarket shocks/lowering spring combo for 200-300 bills. Just within this month I saw a couple setups for sale in here.

Another decent budget option stated allready would be Bilstein shocks with stock springs...you will be able to lower your car with bilsteins since it has a lower spring perch.

Lastly, STAY away from this ebay crab.

i think eibach lowering springs is the better chooice for now.
keeeping stock shocks until i can come up with some $$$
something like this:
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=120384877614&sspagename=STRK%3AMEWAX%3AIT&viewitem=

It is generally accepted that if you get lowering springs, you MUST get aftermarket shocks.

If you ride Eibacks on stock shocks it will ride poor, bouncy, squashy etc.
The OEM struts wont be able to handle the oscillations of the new lowering springs.

alright so i deff took everyone's input into consideration and i have done extensive research on here, socalsupras.com, and bunch of other sites
and i deff learned a thing or two about suspension upgrades :naughty: lol
i came to the conclusion that the best result would consist of new struts to go along with new springs rather than riding on stock struts with aftermarket springs.
i really like the billstein/h&r setup. h&r's are good for daily driving but also answers to the aesthetics/performance when needed and it really slams the ride a good 2" and if i ever want to bring it up the billsteins are adjustable.
so its either billstein/h&r, billstein/eibachs, or i was thinking i should just get rid of the tems considering i dnt feel a need for it and go for tokico HP's/h&r
but i heard the tokico's arent as realiable and known to blow.

...i was thinking kyb/eibachs but it doesnt slam the car the way i want it to look.

wat do you guys think?

btw, i know that struts and shocks are alike in function but i don't fully understand the difference.
but when i say 'struts' i think i'm really referring to 'shocks'
for example billsteins, tokicos, etc = shocks, right? :aigo:
no rashing on me, i'm a newbb
but thanx guys.

Hey there new guy! Shocks are normally independent of the spring while a strut is a shock w/ a spring on/ over it . But they perform the same function.

But my question is Why do you want to buy shocks and springs. I mean, what is your intended goal ? I know your on a budget and being new, you dont want to make a bad purchase. Thats great, But telling us what the intended goal is may help in the advice given.
Do you just wanna slam it? Or are you planning on autocross. Is it a Daily Driver only?

ok that makes sense nowww

annd my goal is simply to hide the hideous 5 inch gap between the tires.
i absolutely hate the stock height.
it's my daily driver and i have no plans to hit the track or autocross or anything like that.
its simply to give it a better look and on top of that i think after about 20 years, the suspension deff needs a lil pampering.
but overall i just want to drop it a fw inches for looks as well as performance for my daily driving...
which is why i think bilstein/h&r's would be ideal
