Code 52 Plague

I should have known and tested better but couldn't really get down to the knock sensors with the correct socket (I didn't have a deep 27mm) so I've been dealing with that dam Code 52 for about a year. I even did the rewire kit. The mechanic that did my head gasket replaced the ks' so I figured they were fine.

My starter went out so I decided to go after the ks' since I was down there. I figured one was bad and kept causing the code. 2 new ks' were bought along with the starter (the price tag nearly killed me). With the starter out, I took out the ks in the back. This one was torqued down pretty good. I then went to the front one, slid the socket over it, did a quick hand turn to make sure it had a good hold and it turned. WTF! That dam mechanic didn't even torque it down! He probably just hand tightened with a socket. I checked out both of the ks' and they do indeed look new.

So here are my questions.

Would a ks that is not torqued down cause a code 52?

If a ks sits like mine did for a year, would it go bad from all that extra vibration?

Since I have everything out, should I go ahead and just install the new ones to be sure that my ecu or motor isn't bad or going bad?

Your opinions are greatly appreciated.

No opinions? Well the new knocks were the wrong ones anyways. I should have opened the box before leaving the store. Maybe it just means that the ones I have are good. I put them back in and I'm returning the ones I bought tomorrow. Hopefully, it was just a loose knock causing the the code. I'll update this post after I take it out for a cruise.
