Code 52/ Heater hose?

I have a code 52 and have read that it is the knock sensor wireing that fails. I hear that I can use microphone cable to rewire it and i have tons of that stuff laying around. I was curious if anyone has wired it the following way. Microphone cables consist of three wires 2 leads and a ground. Could i use the two leads for the sensors and then use the ground wire to ground to block and chassis. Also i have standard microphone cable does the size matter? My heater core is no good and well i just linked the two hoses to one another. I'm in the process of replacing all vacuum lines and hoses and cleaning up engine bay. My question is can i just cap the two lines at the rear of the engine?

what 2 lines at the rear of the engine? We need some more information....maybe some pics would help as well. As far as rewiring your knoc sensors goes....shoot a pm to shaeff, he could probably help you out..

for the knock sensor rewire, what you need is an insulated wire, like tv cable. i used stranded rg58 and grounded the metal sheathing at both ends of the wire. search for the knock sensor rewire. leave shaeff alone, its easy enough to do yourself and rather cheap

there is lots of write ups on the subject just search code 52 or knock sensor rewire and it will pull up a ton of discussion. Just make sure you only ground one side of your wire, by the ecu is easiest.
To quote jetjock,
"The factory wiring grounds the shield only at the ECU. The reason for that is to avoid a ground loop. I'm not saying you'll have problems by grounding both ends but good electrical engineering practice dictates it shouldn't be done, at least not in DC or low frequency circuits."

Or you can make life easy if you not too great with a soldering iron (although really pretty simple procedure) and order Shaeff's kit which is of really good quality from the pictures I have seen.

hey do whatever, it wont hurt my feelings any. i was only saying its easy to do yourself and shouldnt need to bother shaeff. im sure shaeff wont mind making you a kit

OK I have the ks covered. The two hoses i'm speaking of are the coolant hoses that supply coolant to the heater core. Here is there exact locations one is located at the very back of the engine in the center of the valve covers the other on the passenger side of the engine near firewall. The reason I ask if I can just cap them is because i have a leak in my heater core and I live in El Paso TX really no need for a heater here. Also if i can remove/cap them then that's two hoses less in my engine bay thus a cleaner bay.

i wouldnt cap them off, but you can loop them so you are not disrupting the flow of coolant. in this pic you can see how i did it, but i used jdm metal coolant pipes instead of a usdm one because they have different sides blocked off. all i did was just bypass the heater, the lines connect to the correct pipe so no disruption of flow

I always had problems with the 7m knock sensors breaking on my car, so I decided to use 2jz knock sensors (they screw right in) and wired my knock sensors directly to the ecu using usb cable. It works great and I have no problem. As for capping off the heater core, you can cap off the heater, but what are you going to do about the liine on the back of the head...
