Well my engine finally decided to throw a couple codes. 51 is A/c related, i no longer have AC on the car...anyway to get rid of this? Now 21 is what concerns me. My A/F guage is reading fine, but the ecu is not getting a signal i assume from code 21? Now should i be concerned considering i have SAFCII which alters all that stuff anyway or no. Keep in mind, this engine now hoas 1172miles on it and the code just came up now? so i don't know why that is happening.

Other unsolved issues include high idle: 11-1200RPM, car starts fine at about 650RPM and slowly raises at it gets warmer. WHich i don't get b/c normally toyota engines operate opposite...start high then go low? I have no vacum leaks btw, this has been tested for. I may need a new VSV as it probably has never been replaced.

Other issue still unsolved: vibrations from engine bay when temp goes above 180*, it will stop if its lower. It vibrates, stop breifly, then vibrates and repeats. It varies with RPM mostly noticeable between 2-3K after that its barely noticeable, any gear. Given i DO have a broken fan blade but i figure it would happen all the time if it is that. I could be wrong though i don't know if the clutch on the fan activates more so at a higher temperature...does it??

EDIT: also, ECU issues (i think): Everytime my car comes under boost the ECU makes a strange, rapid clicking noise almost as if its reading a really loud/old style hard drive...anybody else run into this on pre-89's? or at all?

1) Codes 51 and 21 are easy to resolve if you do your homework. Not having AC on the car has nothing to do with 51.

2) What kind of Einstein runs with a broken fan blade? Fix it before it either destroys your fan clutch and water pump bearings or everything comes apart and tears up a bunch of other stuff. At minimum cut the same amount off the opposite blade. Duh. And yes, the clutch spins the fan faster as the coolant gets hotter. Even if it didn't can you say "harmonics"?

3) I've already explained the problem with your idle.

4) The ECU is incapable of making such noises.

1) Straight out of haynes: "51...... Air conditioner switch or neutral start switch signal"

2) Relax man, i didn't realize it was a huge deal. Also, i wasn't sure how the clutches worked, i never dealt with them from toyota, only ever power steering powered radiator fans. I have one in the mail, it should be here today. BTW thanks 87NAsupra!

3) I don't recall a response from you in my last "high idle" post, i ll check again. Edit: http://www.supramania.com/forums/showthread.php?t=49963 ...sure it was my post? Originally i may have had one when i first got the car. There was a small vacum leak which was found with some type of gas test by the tuner i go to and he got the idle down to 8-900. I may have posted something about that, but ever since the dyno run that day it idles way higher then ever at 1.1-1.2K

4) Then if its not the ECU its something electrical, it does it everytime the car comes under boost, even a little bit. Its coming from the same general area of the ECU...any ideas?

1) Haynes manual? Lol. Just because it (or even the TSRM) says air conditioner doesn't mean not having one will cause the code. What else does it say?

2) I'm relaxed. I accept you may not have known how the clutch works but if you don't know running with a broken fan blade is bad you're an idiot. Aren't you the guy who relocated his battery without securing it? Had it tip over spill acid everywhere? Nuff said.

3) I explained the cause for your idle problem in the post you replied to. Apparently you're not bright enough to have caught it. You should read the service manual because it's obvious you haven't a clue how the car works.

4) Yes, but since you're an expert who first asks for help then disputes the correct answer when he gets it I'll let you figure it out on your own.
