ok guys, i am beat down. i have been at it all day, i guess i am not a fast mechanic. i have been reassembaling my car from having my head rebuilt. as of now i am getting a code 24 and a 31. the car is bone stock with a cometic headgasket and arps. i am also getting a vacume leak, it is loud and squeels. i have looked and cant find it. i pressured tested my intake and cant hear it. what and where is a Intake air Temp Sensor Signal? i dont know why i am getting an o2 code. any answers will be apreicated.
thank you

I think those are airflow meter codes. I would have to get my book out. It has to be plugged in to work right.

There is no hurry, don't be fast. Do it right.

The temp sensor is inside the airflow meter. Belts aren't adjusted right. You might have an exhaust manifold leak, depending on what you mean by loud. Put a vacuum gauge on it to see if you really have a leak.

Fast mechanics are usually bad mechanics. I try and work on my car like it's a watch...or an airplane.

You don't have an O2 code. The codes you do have are associated with the AFM. The temp sensor is integral to it. It's that little probe sticking down inside. Since both sensors are completely independent of each other and the odds of them failing together slim it appears you have a wiring problem associated with the AFM or a loss of 5 volts going to it. Either that or you've left it unplugged. Both are easy enough to check.

edit: beaten by Nick ;)

thanks guys, i was getting on here to edit the o2 crap that i had put ( earlier i had a 21 and i guess that i had them mixed up) i think i narowed down the vac leak. i sprayed carb cleaner on part of the manafold and it made the car bog down. that sucks, all of the gaskets are new.

i am such a jack ass! i forgot to plug the afm back in after i had tried to pressure test it. now i am getting a damn 51!! i hate the 51! when I had the throttle body off i set it perfect as per the tsrm.
i spraied it on the front corner of the gasket betwen the bottom runner and the main manafold.
thanks

If your AC button is pressed, it will always set a code 51...might want to check.

I pressed the AC button whenever I saw it. Last time I tried to adjust it using the TSRM it didn't work so this time I did it on a bench, with a good meter.
Going to bed now, I will fix that leak tomorrow.
thanks guys

Code 31 on the 7M-GTE: Open or short circuit in air flow meter signal.
Trouble Area: Air flow meter circuit, Air flow meter, ECU

What you posted applies to the 7M-GE

Code 51 refers to no IDL signal with the TB closed...as I said, having the AC button pressed in sets the code.
Trouble areas: A/C switch circuit, A/C switch, A/C amplifier, Throttle position sensor circuit, Throttle position sensor, ECU

The TRSM spells this out.
