Clutch going out???

So I think my clutch may be going out. Here are the symptoms it has. When I have the clutch all the way in and let off the brake while in gear it moves forward as if I have let the clutch out a little. Then sometimes with the clutch all the way in it does not want to go into gear or switch to other gears. Also when I push the clutch in it doesn't really feel like it's doing anything until maybe the last couple inches or so before it reaches the floor. Is my clutch going out or could this be something else?

Failing hydraulic system for the clutch. Have a leak somewhere...

What Poodles is referring to here is a bad clutch master cylinder, slave cylinder, or the lines between the two. If the master or slave is bad, it is recommended that you replace both of them at the same time. This is to keep a strong new part from overpowering the older part that is as old as the one that just failed at the other end.

The easiest way to check for this is to check your clutch fluid. If it is low, one of these parts is going to be bad. Your system does not "use" fluid. If it's gone, it leaked out of something. First check should be to see if your carpet is wet under the pedals up high. If it is, it came from the master. If dry, go under the car and check around the slave cylinder, and then follow the lines.

It is my opinion though, that the first diagnosis was where your problem is, in your pedal adjustment. But it is entirely possible that Poodles diagnosis is right as well.
