Yes. Low fluid can cause the problem. You must have a leak. Better find and fix it soon, as it will only get worse. If it gets too low, you may get air into the system, and just filling it up won't make it work. Then your stuck !

Mrnick is right
clutch reservior is not suppose to deplete on its own, it has to be a leak.
i say do not drive the car cause you will be stranded and spend more to tow it home than hitch a ride with your buddies.

I had that problem a week after my 1JZ swap was done. Car was automatic before, so I had no clutch or clutch pump etc. The problem was 2 little O-rings that go around the spring... it was leaking through there. There was a clutch pump from a CRX laying around at the shop, we took them from it, and the clutch fluid hasn't lowered a single drop since. =)

I've had to replace both my slave and master clutch cylinder.
When the master leaked, it did so at the pedal shaft and I got oil inside of the car in the foot well.
When the slave leaked, you couldn't tell other than it didn't hold pressure and used a lot of fluid. It might have been wet on the outside too.

check thew carpet under the clutch pedal for dampness, indicating the master cylinder needs replaced.
