Hi guys, first off let me start by saying that I do not know much about clutches, nor the terminology used for them, so please bear with me.
About two months ago, I heard the typical throwout bearing "rattle". I just dealt with it until recently when the car started vibrating more than normal when in neutral and when revving. The clutch even felt funny, hard to describe it. Maybe mushy would be the word.

Fast forward to tonight. I Dropped the trans with my buddy thinking that it was gunna be a simple throwout bearing. I was WRONG. Turns out one of the three "braces" on the pressure plate broke off of its rivot, spun around, slicing into my bellhousing and then shot out the side of the bellhousing.

I provided pictures to show it all.

My questions;
1: What could have caused this? Manufacturer error? Install error?
2: What can I do about it? Its about 2 years old, even though the car sat for a year. Will spec replace it? Its a spec stage 3.
3: If I must buy a new clutch, which would be best for me? I put down 457whp and somewhere around 450tq.
4: Would you replace the bellhousing? Can it somehow be fixed? If so, how?

Yup, and if you get one with a higher clamping force, it just might hold up to that meth kit of yours.

As far as the bellhousing, if no one here chimes in, call to a welding shop/mechanic to see if they would reccomend patching it. It seems like it would be ok to just weld up the hole and debur the other marks and you should be ok, but thats just my thinking aloud.

Nothing wrong with that, guys that do the 7m 4x4 truck swap often cut the bell housing from the R154 and an R150F truck trans and weld them together so they can use the R150F vs. a W series trans.

I would think this would be the cheapest route, but if your not comfortable with this I may have a bellhousing available. PM me if your interested.

did a clutch change on my Supra less than a month and a half ago.... had the same problem. Don't remember what pressure plate it was... but almost same outcome, just not as bad.

Darn high horsepower does it to these pressure plates.

It is common to nearly any pressure plate that uses the straps. It is NOT just a Spec thing. Things break when you up the HP, it is just the nature of going faster.

Ok, so id like to avoid this possibly happening again, I sent you back a PM rich, what would you suggest? Within a decent price range. Maybe say around 600-700 bucks.
