clunking on turning

when i have my car on full lock and turning either forwards or in reverse the car almost seems to clunk and jerk forwards or backwards depending on which direction im heading. I doubt this is to do with the lock stop bushes though they probably need looking at. does this sound like knackered ball joints? the car has always done this over the 4 years ive owned it and has never failed a yearly test. could it perhaps be anti roll bar drop links? as i dont think there a tetable item

Do a very good inspection of you lower control arms. Seems like I see the bushing in the rear wear more than the front but either could be your problem.

bumpstops or diff more than likely...

mine does it too at full lock..

sometimes on the front tires if there are any wheel weights on the inside of the rim it may hit the control arm as it rotates into it at full tight turn. the bump stop will need turning out some. this probably is not your problems tho.

hmmm i also have an anoying creaking sound occasionally when the front suspention flexes (mainly when coming to a stop) so i guess ill have the front end up in the air and have a good pry about with a pry bar and see what i come up with.

Mine clunks when I have the wheels at full turn and start to move. I've seen a thread on this before, but I can't remember what the reason was. Seems to me it was something that wasn't easy to get at without having the engine out, so I'm living with it for now.

Alignment?...inspect your lower and upper ball joint.

i dont have any problems with tyre wear though so i figured the allignment was fine

check your hub bearings. mine use to make noises when i turn and it was the hub wheel bearing. all you do is jack up the wheel and wobble the wheel. if it moves the bearing is bad. it shouldnt wiggle at all.

Check the rod ends of the R&P.

check for abnormally corroded bushings too. One may have been compromised by the elements and seized on you.

think virtually the whole car has been compromised by the elements lol courtesy of living next to the north sea for 20 years. Ill jack her up and have a good play about. Its due an oil change auto box fluid change plus a few other things so its a good excuse i guess
