I'm rebuilding my Turbo motor on my Supra and Im very intrested in buying some Clevite Performance Rod Bearings and some Main Bearings in a standard size. I heard good things about these bearings and Im not going to take any short cuts in preparing the block to be rebuilt but I was wondering if anyone has these installed in their Supra? or can tell me if I should buy them or not?

Thanks again.

They're NDC bearings in Clevite boxes so check around you may get them cheaper in NDC boxes..

Good quality Japanese bearings just NOT as good technology as Genuine Clevite 77's.

Wonder if the Clevite's still sitting in the local parts stores are the Genuine 77s - any way to tell?

Summit lists the P series as having a full face oil groove - and $10 cheaper than anywhere I've seen 'em (tho the rod bearings are $1 more/box than Advance - make 'em price match ;))

Dow: Pull a shell out of a box they're stamped on the backside.

Genuine P's are great and have the egg shaped bore to create an oil wedge in the unloaded part of rotation! (being a broached shell they're a bit all over the shop sizewise but a good machinist will allow for this)

There are no clevite berings in foreign sizes. IJ is right. I invsetigated this years ago. They ARE repackaged NDC in clevite labed boxes. Sometime you will find kings, or global berings in the box! Hey nce to see you over here IJ. Keeps some of these guys postin here is a good thing;)

I know I just picked up a set of NDC's in clevite boxes with a turned crank I purchased. I was kind of choked to find out they were NDC's, but I cant really complain because genuine clevite's are hard to come across now, especially here in Canadia.

NDC's are a pretty good bearing so no need to be choked!

Just here in Australia they're a good deal cheaper in NDC boxes and it makes no sense to pay more for Clevite boxes!!

Might be different in the US though!

PS Ian.

I had a lovely grin on my face when I saw Last reply by: IJ to this thread.

I wonder how many times you've told people about the NDC Clevite scandal now :icon_razz

EWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww

Baboon: LOL it's not really a scam or a scandal but if you pay Clevite 77 Prices for NDC's just for a box it's a bit rude! (this depends on if there's as big a price difference in the USA as there is here)

I just ordered some Clevite77 bearings because I couldn't find a place that sells NDC. I can confirm that the Clevite Rod Bearings are NDC, but the Clevite Main Bearings are NOT NDC. I have old NDC bearings so I know what I'm talking about. I'm not sure if they are real Clevite's or not as there is no name on them, just numbers. I got my stuff from Kragen btw.

Well you can't buy genuine Clevite77's so strike that one!

NDC's are probably the next best quality bearing, never used the Toga's and my Crank shop never mentioned them as an alternative.

I used Fed Mogul Rods and NDC mains this time around with Repco Thrusts.
