yes dawn will work. but, it also takes the natural oils out of the paint. after you do this be sure to polish and wax afterwards.

I used laundry detergent because of a friend with a white 300z and it worked great but it makes the paint real soft so you have to wax it once it dries

Sand it down and primer it.

Simple green dude. And why in the hell nail polish remover??? that removes paint to.
After simple green, just use some type of car wax and it will come off..
