The question i have, what's the best way to clean a head ? i got dust on it and i don't want to spray water on it to get it cleaned of or wasn't sure if i can use water. any advice ?? the head will be getting a resurface within a week or so.

Brake cleaner should do the job, don't take my word on that one though.

+1 on brake clean (that stuff is truly amazing) I use johnsons brake clean. leaves no residue, doesnt have that harsh chemical smell and cleans really well.
If you dissapsemble the head you could clean it in varsal, then wash it in hot soupy water, blow it off with compressed air then lightly oil any metal material that will rust. (what ever isnt aluminum)
