Unless you live in a country that hasn't outlawed cleaners that do serious environmental damage, which is rather unlikely, then don't try it, you cannot clean an AFM with the solvents available and have a snowball's chance in hell of it working afterwards.

By the way, this has been covered before - *MANY* times. There are an awful lot of dead AFM's out there to prove it, too.

However, feel free to ignore the existing proof and try it for yourself... a new one from Toyota is only a few hundred bucks.

Only try cleaning it if you know for a fact that it's already fucked. If it's not, then it probably will be when you're done. I read somewhere that a guy had good results using some kind of cleaner called varn. It's used for cleaning film negatives before developing or some shit. I'll try to find the link.

This is by Reg Riemer. The name sounds familiar, maybe someone on this forum.

Ask me how much I care about AFM's. ;)

I don't. I HATE them.

They are great for household appliances and accessories, though. :icon_bigg

Our car does not have a mass air flow sensor, so that is another reason not to use it.

That cleaner is for a different kind of sensor.
