Cleaning Head

Well I took off the head, doing a BHG. And was wondering what do guys use to clean the head before taking it to a machine shop? degreaser?

I was actually wondering the same thing, more more along the lines of what to use for carbon removal from the chambers. Something that will not damage the valve seats and the aluminum. What chemicals and or abrasives are normally used?

Yeah, when it comes back from the machine shop, it'll be clean enough to eat off of, they put it in a parts cleaner

I used Mopar Combustion Chamber Cleaner to clean the carbon out of my block. The stuff was amazing. You'll be able to see what color the metal was when it was new! I got two cans and let it soak in over night a few times. It's supposed to be sprayed into a running engine but it works well without heat.
