Is it just me or is circuit citys going of buisness deal sucky
Everything marked off at the going out of buisness rate is off the inflated price or MSRP there is still way better deals at wallmart or best buy with online shopping deals I would not watse your time going there.

From what I hear circuit city will continue to get stock and murchandise all the way through feburary so the time to start going would be for sure after MARCH.

One thing to know now is the liquidators set the prices now not circuit city even though the liquidator bought everything at 10-20% of what the full msrp would be they still keep way more profits and only mark down 10-20% from msrp so if you want the best deal wait.

Also know if you buy an expensive full size appliance there is no warrenty or take back on items only mfg warrenty if your lucky.

The best deals are on cable, apple, sony, bose. products with a fixed price say like a new PS3 high demand game they cost 59+ tax I would wait till march at the 30-50% rate then you will actually get a PS3 game for ~$30

It'll be tough to get many good deals on hot items. I'd almost say you can forget getting more than 50 bucks off a ps3.

The liquidators know people will be happy to pay *just* under what every other place charges for the hot stuff.

Maybe some good deals on home theatre stuff though as that product tends to move more slowly.

yes ill have to agree with that ...working in bestbuy i think the way theyll play this out, is all the hot ticket items will simply be sold back to the vendor if they cant get full price for it

I'm not content paying just under retail for anything I won't be able to bring back to the store I purchased it through.

this is probably one of the reasons why circ city went out of business in the first place. horrible pricing and customer service, too.

Horrible customer service is why they went under if you ask me. I'm glad they did too. I called it about seven years ago that they would fall on their face. They biggest problem was that they hired commissioned sales reps to work for them. Now I know in the past couple of years they supposedly did away with that, but they had them before.

Their employees worked on commission, so they would pick and choose which customers they would help. They would help those who looked like they had money. They would pre-qualify customers as the would walk into their department. Unfortunately I don't look like I have money. I just don't play dress up like some others do. Or shave, or get haircut on a regular basis.... so I pretty much look homeless.

There has been several times where I'd go to CC, and sales reps would avoid me. They'd quickly walk away, or run to the next customer. When I did finally get one to help me they didn't seem like they wanted to be bothered with me. Some would tell me that everything I need to know was on that little info card displayed right in front of the product. I'd end up asking him to call the store manager, complain about their terrible customer service, tell him they won't be around much longer because of that, and that if they don't want my money I'm sure Best Buy would gladly take it. Sure enough, Best Buy was happy to earn my business.

It would always put a smile on my face when I would go to Best Buy and they were jammed pack, and I would visit the CC near by and you could count their customers on one hand. And whenever they'd build a huge shopping center Best Buy would have their "Best Buy coming soon" sign displayed..... and no CC. The writing was on the wall folks. I knew it was coming soon. CC had the nerve to blaim their downfall on the economy. Umm... they were losing customers long before the economy took a Uturn.

When I was about 20 years old (1994), I applied for a job at CC. I that time I knew everything there was to know about home and car electronics. That's all I was into at that time. I went through their interview process and they told me I had a huge knowledge about electronics, but... I had no commissioned sales experience. So apparently they were looking for trained sharks to pick and choose their customers to maximize their own (the employees) pockets. The end result was poor customer service, lose your cutomers to another store, sales hit the floor, blame it on the economy, and close your doors.

I think Suprapowaz is right on a lot of points.

On side note, what's keeping all the soon-to-be ex-employees from robbing that place blind? The management? Probably not, unless every store is flooded with corporate reps. I'm willing to bet management is pretty disgruntled. Maybe if $300 found its way into the store manager's pocket, then you would find a flat-screen TV placed conveniently behind the store.:naughty:

Oh Please, this is by far opion oriented 100%..... And alot of people will say Circuit City has way better Service then Best Buy.. You know why? Because Circuit City was a smaller store directing less traffic. How could you possibly get better service at Best Buy 100% of the time.. Same goes with Circuit City. I worked for Circuit City and I gave each guest the best service I could possibly give them. I sold computers and I had people come up to me asking me if I had anything around 300$... I tried my best to put emm in a computer closest to that (knowing the cheapest computer we had was 500$)or talk with my managers and see if we can give them a huge discount on an open box item... Some times success and sometimes the managers were Aholes... I have walked into Best Buy many many times and had not a soul that works there get close to me. At Circuit City one of the main things was greeting the people coming in. Due to less people in the store I could spend up to an Hour with a guest so we could go thru every single detail. So I knowing I gave great service means Circuit City did not have bad service all around...

The whole circuit city thing is all biased to where you lived. While there were a handful of employees out there with the intentions of actually helping customers, that was the minority, not the exception. People started to get horrible service and when they went around complaining, they found that its so common that it must be a corporate wide problem and lack of service.

I agree that its stupid to may anything more than 80% msrp on a product that you cant take back to a local store and refund or exchange if anything breaks or changes. The only way to put reason to buying an as-is product is if the price is discounted enough to warrant risking having to buy another.

1/1000th of CC employees are you. I've been to six or seven different CCs, all the employees that I've dealt with and both managers were fucktards that didn't know a camera from a laptop and didn't help me at all, save one. The one remaining employee kept trying to get me to buy the router I specifically said I didn't want that was nearly $40 more and had less features. In contrast, all five of the BBs I've been to were awesome. Greeted at the door, at the very least acknowledged when I entered a new department, helpful when I needed it. I've only been to one Fry's, no problems there, but I didn't buy anything so I can't really comment on anything. I'd rather drive the 15-20 minutes north to Greenwood and go to BB (possibly seeing Boost Lee or SuicideSupraA70s Supras is a plus, that's actually how I got into Supras lol) than pay nearly twice as much for the same product and deal with pricks at the local CC. The only reason I've gone into that store in the last two years or so is for the Verizon Wireless kiosk, which is oddly enough staffed with intelligent, fast workers that are far superior to the actual Verizon store located right next door. :biglaugh:

To be honest, I'm not disappointed. I mean, yeah, it sucks that a big business like CC is going out, but that's capitalism. Nobody in that store knew shit about their products. I walked in there and just kinda gazed around the cameras one day. This woman finally came walking up to me and asked me if I needed any help. I was still playing with the 40D, so I told her no thanks, not at the moment. A little later, I noticed that there was a 5D in the case under the counter and I was curious what it cost, so I ask her for help. She didn't know shit about it (I don't know why she talked to me in the first place), and she went and found the guy running the camera/computer counter. Of course, he didn't know shit about it, didn't even know what I was talking about at first. Those people were trained to operate a register, but not one of them knew how to make a SALE.
CC sucks. They couldn't handle it, and now my Wolf Camera just became the premier camera retailer in this area.

Apparently, the higher-ups at corporate office agree, because we just got 4x Canon 50Ds (my store never even had the 40D in stock, and we only got a few 30Ds 3-4 months ago because the company is trying to clear them out).

Cant lie about some managers being aholes.... I worked for three diffrent circuit city's and 2 of the store managers were complete Pricks... One was just about the best manager I had ever had.... He gave rides to those workers without cars in a pretty nice brand new Z... Always wanted to race him hehehe..... Anyways, you will find ignorant sale associates about the products in both Best Buy and Circuit City mainly because nobdy stays and they always hire young Kids who dont kno $hit about wht they are selling... Ah but Kids make sense because they get payed less, and a little bit of training will get them to a point were Best Buy or Ccity Cant loose... Some times the products sell themselves... Point is, there are people who feel like Best Buy sucks and Circuit City was better.... I dont care for Circuit City to be honest.... They are out for a reason and I kno many... With that said I would love to see a new store with a better foundation. One were workers gain confidence from the buyers in letting them kno that its about putting them in wht product is best for them and then educating them on it. Most important thing is the satisfaction of the whole experience and most importantly satisfaction in knwoing they got the right Tv, Camera, Computer.....

This goes both ways, ive been with best buy for 4 years and strange to say, im not happy that circuit went under. Both business's had same intention of getting the customer taken care of just different ways of doing so. Across the map you will see dissapointment from both stores cause like what was said, 100% satisfaction is a dream. Just cant please everyone.

Ive heard many different opinions about circuit and frys and best buy. It honestly just depends one which store your at what the environment is like. The store near me had a lot of internal theft and almost went under many times. So GIVEN i had a lot of customers come complain to me, but that doesnt mean every Circuit was like that. I wish the best of luck to ALL the employees that they let down. That just plain and down right sucks.

I will say that from a retailer environment it is hard to compare price wise to places like Newegg and online competitors just because they dont have the cost of employees and associates in the field. Lots of other factors into consideration.

over all this long book i wrote lol, i think it sucks circuit went under.

Sside: CC lost a good employee when you left. The many times I went there I didn't run into anybody like you. You're right about BB though... I don't get service there 100% of the time. That's because they're all running around helping 3-5 customers at one time. They just have so many customers in their store that they can't possibly get to everyone. But I'll excuse that, because at least they are working with other customers.

There have been several time while at CC I get ignored, and those reps are with NO customers. I'm the only one in their department. I'm the 7th person in the whole damn store. There are more employees that customers and half the customers are not being helped. I've seen this several times. This is no exaggeration.
