I have mine in the same spot. Once you get used to the gauge being there you can watch it with your periferal vision. You don't need to see the number it's at if the needle always goes to the same place on the gauge. I just keep tabs on mine to make sure it's not way low/high.
That's a terrible locations for any important instrumentation that requires some degree of regular observation, since it will require you to completely redirect your focus from the road.
Did it once, regretted it. Ran a VDO gauge to match my cluster, but ultimately it was a bad location for the gauge and I wanted the cig-lighter as a power adapter.
Note: at this point the gauge no longer matched my cluster, ha.
yea i discovered this like 2 years ago. i loved it for awhile cause it just made me feel good that i was creative. lol
but after awhile its a BAD spot for any gauge that you constantly watch. like a water temp gauge is perfect there or oil temp or something but not a boost, wb02, or egt gauge
