So the lighter doesnt work but everything is plugged up fine. and the ring around it is lit well. The LIGHTER wont stay down if I push it but I havent tried to test if I can plug anything in to get power from it, so Im asking if power not getting to it is why the lighter wont stay or is the lighter busted and the terminal is ok? I wanna get an Ipod charger since Im about to make a 12 hr trip and I dont wanna be without music.

Thanks guys.

Try what johnathan said;). Also maybe if its not your fuses then check the wiring behind the cigarette lighter, it may be loose.

EDIT: Its on the driverside kick panel and should be the labeled cig.

If you hold the lighter in and then check to see if it heated up that will tell you if you have power at the socket or not. If it doesn't heat up, then there's no power, but if it does then something is either worn in the socket or the lighter itself is worn.

i had this same problem u should just check the fuses and if its not a fuse problem what i did was i just put a new cig. lighter in, not where the old one was but hidden above the fuse box, and u cant even see it and it works great. if u want to go with that idea it might cost up to 15 bucks but i think it was worth it if ur interested just post it and ill tell u how to do it

ok first u will need to buy a new cig. lighter, male electric thing ( it looks simlar to one of the prongs on the fuses), and a wire with that has a fuse built in. now u can wrap the positive wire from the cig lighter to the wire with the fuse build in , then you crimp the free end of the wire wit the fuse built in with male electrical thing , now the male thing might b to big for one of the fuse prong spots so u might have to shave it down a little. then when thats all done u put the male electrical thing in where the old cig. fuse was. but u can only put the male electrical thing in one of the two fuse prong spots. only one will power it. and then u must ground the wire from the new cig. ligther to an metal spot on the car. and in should work im sorry i had to use the term "male electrical thing" if u have problems send me a message and ill try to help u on ur year car idk where the cig. fuse is so u have to know where that is
