Chroming parts?

As I did some searching, I haven't found an explanation for this..

How do you get engine parts to look like this?

I know polishing, but it doesn't give you near as good a look as this does. Is it paint? And if so, won't it melt off?

I would love any information anyone could provide me.

Looks chromed to me. No paint will make it look that good.

yeah those are chrome dipped

it's impossible to polish to the eveness of that level

i think a kit is about $500-600 for a decent one. i may invest in one around tax time

I think jdub does that Matt. I'm pretty sure he can powdercoat them and chrome them. I don't know how shiney they'll end up, but those are awesome looking.

It could be paint, but I have never tried it on anything I have ever done, so I wouldn't be able to tell you how it would hold up on engine parts.

What JDub does is ceramic coating. While ceramic does have excellent thermal properties, it doesn't give the kind of shine that chrome will.

Ahhh chrome paint sure has gotten better. I think i have a magazine that car was on the cover of. Valve covers are defiantly chrome plated. Surface appears way to smooth to be anything other then plated.

the only thing that could make this car any better, would to be to install an offroad truck light bar made for halogen lights, running an ebay HID conversion kit and all of those lights are on 24/7 as daytime running lights.

I know a guy who polished a Delorean out to a mirror shine. Talk about a lot of work. He said it got more complaints than compliments.

Well I believe if I took my time I could get it to look EXACTLY like the valve covers. Thanks for the information everyone.

I know for a fact that the TEMS covers that I wanted to sell that nobody was interested in were BETTER than the chrome plate. It took over 20 hours just for one, but eh.. At least I know my abilities, but it's not worth the time.

I spent more than enough on Jay's car, it's just sandpaper use. How you use it, and that reminds me

I know. This is what I am talking about. My IC pipes are done in ceramic chrome. They are shiny but when compared to proper chrome plating, there is a significant difference. I still prefer the look of the ceramic though.
