My n/a needs tires bad, Currently it has 3 Bfgoodrich Traction T/A's and one Toyo Proxes 4 (previous owner blew out one of the Bfg's). The Bfg's are toast, the edges wore off a long time ago and now they are down past the wear bars in the centers.. pretty crappy tires if you ask me. I don't drive it very hard, dont auto-x, the thing is pretty much stock.
Canadian tire has General Exclaim UHP's on for $117.74 a piece for 225/50/16's. Anyone have any experience with these tires on the Mk3? Another plus is I have a $40 gift card for Canadian tire so I can put that to use. Ive read reviews and lots of people say they have soft sidewalls but good grip, wear and road noise.
The only other tire ive found in my price range is the Kumho Ecsta KU25 AST, they are $125.99 each from www.1010tires.com (local). From what ive read they seem to be a better tire over the Generals, but.. id end up paying about $130 more for all four because of shipping and the $40 im going to knock off with the Canadian tire gift card and since im trying to keep this on the cheap thats not going to work for me.
So, Im leaning towards the Generals, anyone have experience with them? Im only looking at local stuff, other wise id consider Tire Rack but I don't want to deal with shipping, or cross border warranty BS on cheapo tires if something was to happen.
