CHICAGO (WBBM) -- Chicago Police say no one could make this story up...

A 18-year-old man entered a muffler shop in the 2600 block of North Laramie Avenue yesterday and declared a robbery. He allegedly waved a gun around and demanded money, according to police.

When he was told the money was in a safe and that the manager who knew how to open it was not there, the suspect had a brilliant idea; at least he thought it was brilliant.

He gave the shop employees his cell phone number and asked them to call him when the manager arrived so he could open the safe for him.

The man left and the employees opted to call 911. Authorities stationed plain clothes officers in the shop and called the would-be robber back.

The suspect showed up again, and waved his gun around again, but this time was shot in the leg by an officer.

The man had surgery at Advocate Illinois Masonic Medical Center and is said to have suffered non-life-threatening injuries.

One officer with 20 years on the force, said this is one of the more “unusual” cases he’s seen.

haha.

I read a story in one of the national papers recently. It was one of those bad news days when they fill the papers with random shit.

Anyways. these 2 criminal guys in austria (perhaps another european country) were being transported in a big prison van. It crashed and these 2 managed to escape. they were chained together. They ran and got to the first lamp post 1 went past on the right hand side. the other on the left.

obviously the chain tightened as it caught the lamp post and hauled the 2 fugitives off their feet and crashed them together. they suffered broken ribs and dislocated shoulders and concussion

I was highly amused by that story

Heh... I get the stupid criminal stories all the time from my cousin. These are all pretty old... but still...

1. The FBI office in Portland is above a bank. The FBI is ... computer challenged ... so every agent gets a printed check on payday. No direct deposit. So, virtually every agent has an account at the bank on the bottom floor of the building, and there is a big lineup there after hours on payday. Would you believe some guy decides to rob that bank, on payday, with 40+ FBI agents in line behind him?

2. Guy walks into a bank and demands money. The teller asks him how much, and he replies with a rather large figure. She tells him that the cash distribution machine won't give out that much at once, and asks him if he would like a cashier's check instead. He says that will be fine, and takes the check instead.

I'm not sure if you remember the guy that robbed a store in the middle of the night wearing his high school jacket (the store camera clearly showed his last name), Ya next day they went to the school and into his class and arrested him... Wow just wow.

I herd on the radio this morning that a guy who escaped from jail, ran into the guest parking lot and saw a 350z. Instantly thought it would make a great fast get-away car, when he pulled the lady out the car and jumped in, turns out the guy couldn't drive stick and the guards got a hold of him after he stalled out in the lot. I roffled when I herd this at work.
