I've seen at least 3 or 4 threads over the last year or so spotlighting a car on ebay or craigslist or wherever and saying it isn't worth nearly as much as the owner is asking.

Frankly, I've been thrilled with the cars these guys have pointed out. They've been some wonderful examples of either low-mileage stockers or completely built street machines. This one is the same way. It's a beautiful car with a lot of time, money, and effort put into it.

Personally, I wouldn't buy it. But thats because it's not what I want (and I prefer to do the build up myself so I know it's what I want and done right), and not because the owner is asking too much for it.

Hell, if that car were mine, and I were selling it, I'd want a shit load more than just 13k for it!

I know that guy...not personally but know of him. He does all his own body work. Its a nice car and I think its worth it. The problem comes from finding a midpoint in what people expect mk3's to be worth and the amount spent on them. Im sure he's spent that much (his asking price) or more but not everyone thinks its worth that much and you hardly ever get back what you put in. Personally, I dont understand why our cars aren't worth more? It seems like theyre going up in value a little though or am I imagining it?

simple

because they are old, there are alot of them available AND they are cheap when not in good condition. That leads to a surplus plus a mentality of even if it is fixed it is not worth it. Shame really.

That car is worth far more than the asking price, I'm sure he has in excess of 20K in it. I'm sure that if he's patient, he'll get his asking price.

that car is worth more than what this guy is asking. however, if it were up to me, the car would have been painted black + 5 or 6 spoke silver or bronze wheels. i don't mean to dog on the guy, but orange is not for me.
i think this guy did the right thing. after all, it is HIS car, not mine, not yours.

With all due respect, that guy's got obviously got a ton of dough into this car.

I would venture to say that it's worth every dime of the $13,500 he's asking.

I don't know where some of you guys get your ideas on what's worth what, but it's kinda disheartning to hear supramania members beating the shit out of a car that is nicer than just about any of your own rides.

Maybe that's why... if you've never bought the parts, spent the money and done the work then you have no frame of reference. If you haven't done it, then you can't appreciate all that goes into it , and what it's worth.

Seems like people who have "nothing nice to say" sure love to talk.

^^You're absolutely right. I have no problem with the money he is calling for, I would sell my Supra for that price also if I had all that invested. The reason I wouldn't spend that amount of money is mainly because I prefer to build something of my own rather than buy someone else's pride and joy. When I first bought my car, it wouldnt even move when it was in gear. 16 Months later, here I am, driving her like she never had anything wrong. The reason I said I wouldn't pay that much is mainly because I despise Orange, and I've seen a few Supra's on here go for about 8-9K with practically the same upgrades. Then again, I never catered in that this guy has a gorgeous paintjob, $1500+ in authentic Bomex body parts, Rims that wouldve costed a pretty penny to be coated.

And I also never said that he shouldn't get what he's asking. I just said that in my eyes, it's not worth that. Keep in mind that no matter how much we put into our cars, we will never get it back. I personally have never done anything to my car to raise the value, I've only done things to please myself. It is true that our cars are very underestimated and under priced. I am also a diehard MKIII guy. Don't get me wrong, the guy's car is most definitly awesome. I totally respect what you said and I also highly respect the guy that put this Supra together.
I'm sorry if I made anyone think I was trying to bash him.

As for the orange one, I think it's a pretty sharp looking supra. I'm not a fan of the orange, but it's still nice.
