Rich: I used gas ported pistons many years ago in a street motor......
Lasts about 5000 km then they block with carbon
Those are the Oil Scraper returns and perform a vital service!
(do they have intersecting holes drilled to the pin for oiling?)
Yes they do.
I never use true gas porting on anything other than alcohol drag race only pistons for that very reason. Gas motor will plug the porting solid with carbon in no time. Most of my experience is with nitro, never use gas porting for nitro because the last thing we want in the world is nitro in the ring lands.
Teflon buttons on the other hand are gods gift to drag racing nitro.
These pistons are 10.5:1 comp, 305 grams with a .200 wall thickness pin.
.063 thick wire locks and a 1.299 comp height. Dome height is zero with a dish depth of -.035. Intake relief is -.23, exhaust is -.200
I had all three ring grooves custom made also.
.04/.048/.111 on the ring grooves.
2.998/2.974/2.978 on the ring groove diameters.
You will also see in the pics that I had the land between the top two grooves cut. These pistons I had custom made for a 1200hp alcohol 7m.
