Any mid size chevy from the mid to late 60's up to the mid 80's. Chevelle, nova, malibu, vega, ect. Can still get a mid 70's nova cheap. Build your own small block chevy, th350, some spray, and run 11's forever for hardly any money.

A cheap way to go 11s? Have someone build up a car for you, and get it from them for free.

0 bucks for 11s, haha.

mustang 5.0 with ebay turbo setup... seen those things turn some good times stock.. although carry a little motor scoot with you as it won't last long.

stock gutted civic with spray.. seen a 200 shot last two passes. fun boom when it went.

basically your not gonna be fast and furious with only a few g it will be short lived and if your up for stocking up on blocks go for it.. but its gonna cost a little more to bust into the 11's and be able to stay there.

Not much. The damn car only weighs 1700 lbs. An 11s Supra needs, what, about 500 whp, so a bug with half the weight would only need about 250.

if that math holds, then we are closer than we think. 1000 or so for betle with a blown motor, nice used taurus engine for what 5-600 complete, 4-500 for a ford to vw adaptor, some plumbing, and work(bfh and red wrench kind) and a little tweak to the motor, and were off to the track!

the 2.3 was gonna come in way too high, to get to those power numbers, and a modern taurus mill ought to be pretty damn close, maybe a 50 shot away?

course you are gonna have to tear out the back of the beetle, and cage the engine i guess(but it works for sandrails)

ans swiss cheese the front for a radiator, but i never said it was gonna be pretty...

I knew someone that had a 71 supper beetle he built the motor to a 2200 from a 1600 had the best traction I have ever witnessed (no tire spin at all) wouild walk on 5.0 mustangs all the time i think it was running low 12's or high 11's with little to know money invested

i used to run sandrails...and a good 2200 is gonna blow the budget, by the time you get evertyhing you need to get it running....

I like the idea of a VW Bug, but what would you use for an engine? I can't iminage anything being big enough to power one into the 11s being affordable on a $4000 budget?

Read the crazy swaps that get people going real fast. Maybe not 4k, but def for under 6. Imagine a chipped 2.5l STI motor running 25psi and an exhaust that is 4" wide, 2' long in a car that weighs around 2klbs. hell, if you really want to be a cheap mother, get some wider wheels with slicks, run skinnies on the stock wheels (IIRC they are only 4-5" wide) and remove the rear fenders to run the slicks (only a couple of bolts). A car that weighs 2400lbs (driver and gas in a stripped bug) with 350 crank hp is capable of running around an 11.6. Something tells me you can get more than 350 crank out of a stock turbo on an STI.

You can...for about ten minutes. Then you throw a rod.

OP what kind of money are you talking about. To run consistent 11's the best way to go is 240sx+LS1. It will cost about 5k. And will do 11's all day everyday.

oh I forgot to tell you guys about my friend. he's the first person in the world to run an 11 second pass on a stock turbo STi. I think his mods are just exhaust, intake, axis port, and gangster ass driving.
