Realistic budget for the car is $40 - 60K, so you're dead on. I know a few people that have built them.

Which imo is very cheap for a car of its caliber. Used zo6's are running 35k and up, and the GTM will rape it and be brand new.

Just your basic $40K Ferrari slayer, as owners like to say. :)

Dam... I really like that GTM. Something about it. I don't agree with the statements about it not having style. It may be a kit car, but at least it's not a fiero at heart. lol

For the GTM to be "all new" I think you'd be looking at closer to 60K for the car. The GTM looks like a good deal, but unless you got the time to build it, I'd just opt for the Z06.

60k still less than a new zo6 that won't be able to keep up.

Just imagine what the performance numbers would look like for the GTM with a 6.0 liter motor that's fully worked... Car might be damned near undrivable.

I'm sure it would be pretty damned easy to convert since you're assembling the damned thing in the 1st place. :)

Not brand new as they require the running gear from the vette. I'd rathre drive the vette to be honest, but if I found a trashed vette that I could use the parts off of...

Personally I'd rather have the cobra coupe.

I realize it's quicker, but I'd take the used vette, and enjoy a car that's already built, and more than enough to test the bounds of my driving experience. Now if I had time to build one, than that would be a different story. Hell, if I wanted something ridiculously fast and newer (straight line, not so much corners) I'd get an 07 GT500 with a few simple upgrades and some stickier tires. Too bad ford didn't put that in something that handled better, besides being a heavy engine, that 5.4 is extremely stout and capable of some absurd numbers on stock internals.

The point is the GTM DOES handle.

Then again, the test mule they made with some of the racing addons looks pretty damn sick...

Saw one of those GTM Factory Five cars at the Food Lion Autofair and was not impressed. I don't know if it was assembled poorly, but it looked cheap to me.
