Yeah you can, but you won't be able to pass visual without it.

You need to get a vented gas cap, and route the hose going to it down under. If you don't vent it, you'll smell fuel.

Son of a bitch, someone actually spelled vacuum right. Congrats, in spite of your otherwise horrific writing you win a free get out of search jail card for this post only.

The EVAP canister can be removed and the vacuum (!) line plugged at either the throttle body, the BVSV on the radiator, or the hard line on the AFM bracket. Now, I know lots of people will tell you to vent the fuel tank but it's because they don't know it's designed to run under a positive pressure of 2-3 psi in order to prevent fuel pump cavitation. A valve inside the canister takes care of that but since no one seems to have problems (that they're aware of ) by venting the tank just go ahead and do it. And thanks for poisoning the air in Arizona...better there than here.

LOL...yep we need a list of most common misspelled words ::dunce::

Joe - ADEQ will nail you on the bi-annual inspection. Also you won't pass the sniffer test without an EGR (if you're thinking about removing it)...just leave it installed. Replacing the stock downpipe (and associated CAT on the stock DP) is not a problem.

If you do remove the canister, you'll have to put it back on for the inspection...suggest you keep all the parts ;)

I actually passed visual without a charcoal canister on my car. However, seeing as how there was no performance gain and the fact that I could smell gas fumes hovering around in my engine bay, made me promptly put it back on.

Are you talking about the "sensor" marked BVSV in this pic?

The line routing goes like this:
Small fitting on top/forward of TB to hard pipe that's in front of the 3000 pipe to the bottom nipple on the BVSV...top nipple runs to the canister fitting marked "purge" on the canister.
